Thanksgiving weekend is like a multi-day sprint for holiday shoppers and retailers alike. The parade of deals kicks off on Black Friday (and even earlier for many outlets) and doesn’t stop until Cyber Monday. Now that the annual frenzy is safely in our rearview mirrors, it’s time to turn the page, right? Not so fast.
For the past nine years, NetElixir has meticulously analyzed ecommerce results from the Thanksgiving weekend to Cyber Monday and shared our findings in a comprehensive webinar. Last year, we discovered an array of useful insights and trends that revealed the evolving ways consumers search and buy during this busy shopping season.
2016 Trends & Consumer Insights
We saw a 200% year-over-year (YoY) growth in voice-based searches in 2016. With more than 30 million digital voice assistants expected in U.S. homes by the end of this year, it’s a fair bet that number has continued to rise. We also recognized a 45% YoY uptick in localized “near me” searches and an increase in mobile share of visits and sales, highlighting retailers’ need for a mobile-first strategy.
