The AGI race keeps getting more and more exciting. Google’s launch of its most powerful model yet – Gemini , may be a game changer for the industry. Or will it? Only time will tell. Let me share some of implications for marketers:
- Enhanced Search and Ads Performance: By integrating Gemini into Google Search and Ads, we can unlock improved targeting and relevance in our marketing campaigns. This means better engagement with our target audience and the potential for a higher return on investment (ROI) for our advertising efforts. It’s an incredibly promising way to kick off the new year!
- Advanced AI-Powered Tools: Gemini’s integration into tools like Bard showcases the incredible power of AI. Our marketing team can now leverage advanced AI-assisted capabilities to supercharge content creation, analysis, and strategy planning. This game-changing tool enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of our campaigns, keeping us a step ahead in the competitive landscape.
- Efficient App Development: As a company actively involved in app development, we’re excited about how Gemini’s coding capabilities can streamline the process. With its help, we can achieve faster and more efficient launches of marketing apps or tools, giving us a competitive edge in the market.
- Improved User Experience: The integration of Gemini into products like the Pixel 8 Pro promises elevated user experiences. I see this as an opportunity to create personalized and interactive campaigns that resonate deeply with our target audience. This can lead to increased brand loyalty and customer satisfaction, setting us apart from the competition.
- More Powerful Tools and Insights: Gemini offers our marketing team access to robust tools and insights that keep us at the forefront of industry trends. By better understanding and meeting the evolving expectations of our audience, we can craft more efficient and effective marketing strategies that drive exceptional results.
However, I must also comment that Google continues to play the catch up game in this AGI race for supremacy. Gemini Ultra (to be released in January/February 2024) will be more comparable to ChatGPT-4. The current version of Gemini – Pro, is at about the level of ChatGPT-3.5 especially when it comes to providing relevant answers to complex questions. Incidentally, just 24 hours prior to the Gemini announcement Bing quietly introduced a Deep Search feature meant to help searchers with complex queries. The module output demonstrates the gap between Gemini Pro and ChatGPT (openai.com)ChatGPT-4. It is definitely not trivial.
In any case, the marketers will have to embrace and adapt to this new AI-powered world of marketing. The speed of change has never been more rapid (example. Just in the first 10 months of this year, there have been 78 relatively big changes just in Google Ads!). To state that the AI Wars have made the advertising ecosystem significantly complex is an understatement.
To maximize these opportunities, it’s vital to stay updated on Gemini’s features and updates, align them with our marketing goals, and consider incorporating them into our overall strategy.
